Will a Fixit Ticket be cleared if I replace brake light bulb but the taillight assembly is taped over cracks?

Calif. I backed into a bush, cracked taillight assembly %26amp; made a hole in the plastic about the size of a silver dollar. $250 to replace assembly. Taped it instead w/ red %26amp; yellow taillight tape. Recent rain, brake light out, fixit ticket. In Calif I must bring the car to a police station to have an officer witness that the brake light is working. Will the officer approve it with cracked assembly taped over? Will a Fixit Ticket be cleared if I replace brake light bulb but the taillight assembly is taped over cracks?
Here's a more permanent lens repair kit that uses plastic rather than tape and is approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Well as long as the hole is covered with the proper tape color,I would say it would be fine.As long as the light works and all visible holes are covered then you'll be fine.If you have any problems, call the police station and ask a officer.Good look.
it should be ok with the police if it,s covered right and not just throw the tape on and the light is working.
