Videotape player and tv worked fine last time. Now 3 diff. tapes show just bottom 2'; clear?

First tape I wanted to watch needed rewinding. Rewinder had finished and machine was making tense noise when I got back. Tried to play it, got fuzzy pic. and sound. Rewound part of it in case maybe tension was wrong. No good result.


Tried one other tape that was good last time, still a fuzzy image.


I've wiggled the connector on back of v player, no good. There don't seem to be many/any buttons to change settings on backs of machines.


TV is Sanyo, 10 yrs old. Vtape player is Magnavox, older than 10 yrs.

There should be a control marked ';Tracking'; either on the front of the VCR or on the remote control. Try adjusting that. If that doesn't do it, one of the video heads is probably clogged with debris and needs to be cleaned. If you haven't cleaned a VCR before, its probably best to take it to a service center and let them do a careful, thorough cleaning.
