How do I remove clear tape residue from my dresser?

Our dressers and nightstand had clear tape residue left over after our move and we've tried all the obvious choices like Goo Gone products and other ';tape residue'; removal products, we've also tried just a regular putty knife with and without the Goo Gone and nothing seems to work!

Any other suggestions? How do I remove clear tape residue from my dresser?
Look for the stuff called ';goo-be-gone';How do I remove clear tape residue from my dresser?
There is a product called Goof Off, If that doesnt work, try denatured alcohol, both of these can be found at your friendly neighborhood hardware store. With either product, some refinishing may be required. If you did your own moving and packing, keep these things in mind for future moving, if a company did this, immediately after moving, contact the moving company for reimbursement, by law, they should compensate or replace such items.
If you don't care about the finish, acetone will melt it right off. Also, if the finish is trashed anyway, just sand down the top surface, match the color (stain or paint) and apply 3 coats of polyeurathane.
I don't know what your dresser is made of, but WD-40 works for goo, it can leave an oil spot on some surfaces.

Don't use nail polish remover, it will strip the finish.
any type of oil should help relieve some of the stickiness...but you are going to have to put in a lot of scrubbing to get it to come off...
you could try spraying Pam- the cooking spray, if you have any.....let it set for a minute or two and gently rub off....You may have to do it a few times.. or like someone else said....baby oil....
You could also try White Spirits. It usually breaks the gum down.

edit:

To the goose, who constantly uses the thumbs down, why not try it?
Heat the residue to soften it then apply tape to it and lift off. Hair dryer should work well.
nailpolish remover works or something with ammonia. but becareful becuase it might ruin the paint or the gloss
stuff called goo gone you can get it at the grocery or hardware store
